📌 Deliverables
Deliverables are small, action-focused steps designed to help you apply what you’ve learned right away. They’re not tests — they’re practical checkpoints that move you from knowledge to action.
At the PBA, deliverables also double as real-world assets — notes, plans, and frameworks you create here can become working documents for your project, business, or product. Every lesson is intentionally designed to leave you with something usable, not just theoretical.
By the end of the course, you won’t just have learned — you’ll have built. You’ll walk away with a portfolio of project plans, business strategies, product outlines, and conflict resolution frameworks ready to launch, refine, or share.

Lesson 3: SDGs 11-17 and Choosing Your Impact Idea
"Chase the vision, not the money; the money will end up following you."
— Tony Hsieh
🌍 Welcome to Lesson 3: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11–17 & Choosing Your Social Impact Idea
By the end of this lesson, you’ll have explored SDGs 11–17—covering vital areas like sustainable cities, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace and justice, and global partnerships. Along the way, you’ll discover impact-driven businesses that successfully combine doing good with financial sustainability.
These examples are meant to inspire you, spark creativity, and guide you toward an idea that resonates with your purpose and your community’s needs. Remember—pivoting isn’t a setback. It’s often a natural step in refining your vision.
When choosing your project, apply this simple common-sense check:
-
Does the idea excite you enough that you’d do it for free?
-
Is there a meaningful problem to solve or opportunity to seize?
We’ll dive deeper into opportunity analysis later, but for now, your goal is to develop a clear, purpose-aligned vision of your social impact project.

Lesson 4: The 10 Project Management Knowledge Areas
"If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail."
— Benjamin Franklin
📋 Welcome to Lesson 4: The 10 Project Management Knowledge Areas
Successful projects don’t happen by accident—they happen by design. In this lesson, we’ll break down the 10 Project Management (PM) Knowledge Areas and the 5 Process Groups that form the foundation of professional project management.
While it might sound like a lot, you’re probably more familiar with these concepts than you realize—because at its core, project management is structured planning, and planning is something you do every day.
Our focus isn’t on memorizing every term or step—it’s on deepening your understanding of the planning process so you can anticipate challenges, allocate resources effectively, and increase your project’s chances of success. Most project failures can be traced back to weak planning. This lesson is about making sure that’s never the reason your project falls short.

"Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning."
— Benjamin Franklin
🔄 Welcome to Lesson 5: Project, Product, & Business Life Cycles
You may be surprised to learn that projects, products, and businesses follow remarkably similar paths. Each moves through stages—from inception and growth to maturity and potential decline—and understanding these patterns is essential for effective long-term planning.

Lesson 6: Development Frameworks (Part 1)
"The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble."
— Harrington Emerson
🛠️ Welcome to Lesson 6: Development Frameworks
The right framework can transform your project from a rough concept into a streamlined, high-impact operation. In this lesson, we’ll explore a range of development frameworks, assessing their strengths and weaknesses so you can choose the best fit for your project plan.
We’ll focus on Agile and Lean—two methodologies we rely on here at the Peacebuilder Academy. Both emphasize launching minimum viable products (MVPs) early and often to gather customer feedback, refine value, and stay responsive to real-world needs.
You’ll also learn how to identify and eliminate inefficiencies by understanding Lean’s 8 Forms of Waste and applying tools like the Value Stream Map. We’ll wrap up with principles and strategies from the 5 Laws of Lean & Six Sigma—including the Law of the Market—to help you boost performance and deliver more value with fewer resources.
*Please Note: Audio issues from 0:00–18:30. Please use captions and Mind Maps to follow the key points while we work on a fix—thanks for your patience, Peacebuilder!

"Ideas are easy. Implementation is hard."
— Guy Kawasaki
🚀 Welcome to Lesson 7: Development Frameworks (Part 2) & Intro to New Product Development (NPD)
In this lesson we’ll wrap up our discussion on development frameworks by exploring the Hybrid Agile Stage-Gate Development Model—a powerful approach that combines Agile’s flexibility with Stage-Gate’s structured decision points. This model is designed to keep innovation moving forward while ensuring quality and accountability at every stage.
We’ll then shift into a comprehensive introduction to the 8-Step New Product Development (NPD) Model. You’ll see how closely NPD aligns with the phases of project management and business planning, making it easy to adapt your ideas into a process that delivers results.
By the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to take any idea and fit it into a development framework that supports successful execution, strengthens your strategic planning, and sets the stage for future business success.

"A goal without a plan is just a wish."
— Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
🗓️ Welcome to Lesson 8: Schedule Planning
Timing is everything—and in this lesson, you’ll learn how to structure your project schedule for accuracy, efficiency, and impact. We’ll explore Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and wireframing, powerful tools that help you break large objectives into manageable work packages aligned with a standard 8-hour workday.
By pairing these tools with an hourly labor rate, you’ll be able to estimate your project’s duration and costs with confidence. This process isn’t just about keeping track of tasks—it’s about creating a realistic roadmap that keeps your team focused and your budget on target.

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go."
— T. S. Eliot
⚖️ Welcome to Lesson 9: Risk Management
Every project carries uncertainty—but risk isn’t always a bad thing. While some risks pose threats, others can open the door to powerful opportunities. The key is learning how to identify, evaluate, and respond to both.
In this lesson, you’ll learn to assess risks using tools like the 5 Whys + 1 How (5W1H) Canvas, Action Plan Canvas, Contingency Plan Canvas, and SWOT Analysis.
